Four left. Using a limited palette of 3 plus white, all 6 gems - lively small studies were painted by self learned painter Mimi Dee, depicting regional big skies, river, marsh, crossings, birches, lavender hued hills, rocks, expressive twisted trees, etc. Five have the word: Path in the title:

Japanese limited-edition copperplate etching titled "Big Tree No. 2" by Tanaka Ryohei (1933-2019). Pencil-signed, dated '83, and numbered 33/130 in the lower margin. Paper size 13 1/4" x 12” (image: 9 x 8 1/4"). Never framed. Very good overall condition. There are a few pinhead sized light brown spots in the margin.
A watercolor portrait, on natural wafer, of a handsome gentleman attired in a black jacket and vest with a pale pink cravat. Housed in a very heavy and well-made brass case with the reverse side being fully glazed over fabric.
The condition of the painting and the case is excellent, with no flaws. The white dots and background color variations are just due to exterior dust and light reflections. Overall size is 2 7/8" by 2 3/8".

A naïve miniature watercolor on wafer painting of a gentleman with a piercing gaze and a neatly trimmed beard. Set against a darkish green background, he is wearing a black jacket, vest, and tie with a stickpin. In a cast foliate case with a coil of plaited hair in the glazed window on the reverse.
Condition is excellent, with no issues. Sight size is 2 1/8" by 1 3/4", and the overall size is 2 3/8" by 2".

Louis-Auguste-Mathieu Legrand (b.1863-d.1951)

Louis Legrand was an important artist of the Belle Epoque in France in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Dijon and in 1884 moved to Paris.
In good condition some minor touch ups to gouache paint.

The sitter is a sweet looking girl with long hair, wearing a blue gown with white lace edging at the bodice. The case for the miniature deserves special mention, being a flip type made of testudines shell with gold mounts.
