Mother and Sleeping Child by Joseph Spelter, 1840. Genre Scene. Framed Oil on Canvas, 22 x 20". Joseph or Jacob Spelter (ca.1805-after 1856) was a pupil of J.M. Morgenroth and royal portrait miniaturist at the Wuerttembergian Court in Karlsruhe (Germany), where he was recorded active until 1856. Especially known are his miniatures painted on porcelain.
