Norman MacLeish was born on August 29, 1890, in Glencoe Illinois, to wealthy parents and became a painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and with Pierre Vignal in Paris. MacLeish was a member of the Chicago Society of Artists and exhibited at several venues including the Art Institute of Chicago, the World’s Fair of New York in 1939, the Corcoran Gallery biennial in 1941 and the Golden Gate Exposition of San Francisco in 1939...

Oil on canvas painting of a trellis and a patio, lots of flowers and impressionistically depicted leaves filling the composition, 24" by 36", unframed, signed at lower right "ED CORDEZ". No listed artist by this name comes up in any net searches I've made so I will consider this a fine work by a talented though unlisted artist. It was probably executed within the past twenty years. Condition is excellent. You'll easily find a standard size 24" by 36" frame to complement the work.

Oil on board painting featuring flaming autumnal trees, a view to high mountains beyond, signed at lower right "STIRLING". This 12" by 8 1/2" work (18" by 15" framed) is a rather typical example of Colorado impressionist artist DAVE STIRLING (1887-1971). Stirling was a familiar face in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, where he had a studio from which he sold paintings to passing tourists. Circa late 19th century watercolor painting, probably American, 9 1/2" by 13" (16" by 19 1/4" framed), unsigned, featuring distant high snowy peaks behind a foreground lake. This was found in California and could be a scene of the American west. More than likely, it is by a listed artist---who neglected to sign his or her work. There is some edge browning from the mat, otherwise the work is in excellent condition considering its obvious age.

There was a signed (1962) edition with margins, and examples sell between $6,000 and $12,000 at auction (size significantly larger). This appears to be from the unsigned 1963 edition of 2,000 examples, which were of this smaller size...

A wonderful miniature portrait, on natural material, painted and signed lower left, by Peter Lens. The sitter, a young woman in a yellow gown and white fichu, is shown against a startling blue background.

The condition of the miniature is excellent with no problems or flaws. The white area at the lower edge is light reflection...
