American c1940s Colored Woodcut of a sailor unsigned well done on a very thin paper no damage other than toning. Paper is 11.5" by 8.5"

For the Judaica or Jewish art collector, a SET OF THREE original pastel on paper drawings, all signed in Hebrew and dated 1987 or 1989, all 13 1/4" by 9" (18 3/4" by 13 1/2" as framed), the subjects various ancient buildings in, I would imagine, Jerusalem or another historical city of Israel. I am unable to read Hebrew but a friend thought the signature was "M. Schnase" or something like that...

This is a well-executed late 20th century watercolor painting of two teddy bears floating in a complex three dimensional space, with children's alphabet blocks, a teapot, and cups and saucers sharing that space. The work is signed actually twice, in gold paint, at lower right "Mieko". Measurements are 10 1/2" by 14 1/2" (16 3/4" by 21" in simple light wood frame). The drawing is colorful and whimsical and would enhance any child's room...

A pair of framed watercolors, each signed by the artist, GEORGIA LEE, circa mid 1960's, the subject being familiar scenes of San Francisco: one, a pink hillside Mediterranean-style mansion most likely in the city's tony Pacific Heights section, (possibly on Divisadero, or Broderick or Fillmore); the other a downtown view towards the Ferry Building and the Embarcadero Freeway, (which was built in 1959---thereby helping us to date the works)...

Fine watercolor on paper drawing of a dirt road or track in a country landscape, signed at lower left by the listed American artist NEIL REID MITCHILL (sometimes misspelled as "Mitchell") 1858-1934. Mitchill was born in New York and was painting in nearby Connecticut by the 1890's, where he is credited with being the first resident artist of Westport (which went on to become a 20th century art colony of sorts)...

This is a pretty, impressionist circa 1930's small landscape painting of trees and a path bordering water, painted on gray art board, measuring 9" by 12" (13 1/2" by 16" framed). There is no signature on the front but on the art board label is written in ink "Swick". This may or may not be the artist. The painting is so nicely executed, but its inherent beauty is dulled by decades of dirt. A professional cleaning will truly transform this one...

Watercolor and gouache on paper, 5 3/4" by 11 1/2", (10 1/2" by 16" as framed), signed at lower left by a talented and prolific Italian painter, I think one of a large group of painters going under the name "Gianni", possibly from the same family. Other works of such southern Italian scenes are signed M. Gianni. The auction houses I think have generally mixed up these late 19th/first half of the 20th century painters and the auction records are hopelessly tangled and inaccurate...

Oil on canvas painting of small figures walking a dirt track in autumn along the shore of a lake, 19 3/4" by 24" (28" by 32" framed), signed at lower right with what appears as "Fan UDKO". I believe the work is likely by a listed artist but I cannot come up with any listing from the name, at least as I am reading it. Perhaps more research might identify the artist. The painting is competently executed...

One of dozens of drawings by this artist that I recently acquired, (ask to see others, not shown in my shop) this is a sketch in soft pencil on paper, the drawing and frame 11 3/4" by 16 1/2", signed at lower right, and titled there in the artist's hand "On the Ways/Provincetown", by California and Massachusetts listed artist DAISY MARGUERITE HUGHES (1882-1968). Hughes was born and died in Los Angeles but in between she spent much time in the Provincetown art colony on Cape Cod...

This is a fine old drawing of an old-style wooden house with porch, an ancient old tree arching over the structure and two tiny figures at left. The drawing on paper, laid on a board, measures 14" by 9 1/2" inside the mat and 19" by 14 1/2" as framed. There does not appear to be a signature anywhere, but considering the quality of the imagery we must conclude that the artist was trained and listed. Found in Riverside, California, with Santa Barbara framer's sticker on the backing...

In the style of masters like William Harnett, John F. Peto, Otto Kaye and others, this is a painting of an ink bottle, old style fountain pen, pipe and matches, stamped envelope and calendar, signed at lower right "Roy Fay". The letter, in the trompe l'oeil" (French for "fool the eye") tradition, is addressed to himself, in "Pasadena, Cal", and is interestingly postmarked in Kansas. The calendar is from the "Ohio Grocery", of Pasadena, and the calendar sheet reads November 1912...

A beautifully executed, sensitive set of five study drawings on one sheet of paper, 8 7/8" by 9" (15 3/4" by 14 1/2" in gold metal frame), the work featuring a lonely-looking donkey, titled at lower left "Alistair", dated Sept. 1984 and signed there by the late Scottish woman artist MARYSIA DONALDSON (died 2018). Donaldson captured beautifully her noble subject, who reminds of lonely Eeyore, in his pasture, in the Christopher Robin/Winnie The Pooh stories...

This is a fine pencil drawing of a Victorian style wood home, 16" by 11 1/2" (24 3/4" by 18 3/4" framed), signed at lower right "David" and dated there '73. One is reminded of Edward Hopper's haunted, lonely dune houses or even the infamous back-lot Bates Motel house from the movie "Psycho" where Anthony Perkins did his thing. Condition is excellent. Found in San Francisco, the city where many treasured gingerbread houses of Victorian times still stand.

Pastel on paper laid on board drawing of trees and fields, a shed providing a human element, 7" by 9" (11" by 12 3/4" framed), signed at lower right "R. Nourse". This is a very fine little drawing with a touch of post-impressionist Van Gogh and other artists especially in the branches and trunks of the tall trees.
