Original Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige (Hiroshige II), from his series "One Hundred Famous Views in the Various Provinces (Shokoku meisho hyakkei)", circa 1860. This vertical oban is signed Hiroshige ga. Published by Uoya Eikishi. Beautiful color and condition. Never framed. A rare print from a series partially based on Hiroshige I's series (Famous Views of the 60-odd Provinces). This particular view by his protege is not based on a Hiroshige I work.

This is an oil on canvas, 20" by 30", signed at lower right "J.B. Radway", who was a 19th century California listed artist, (JESSE B. RADWAY, 1826-c. 1905), but the subject is given on the stretcher as "on the North Cheyenne, Col.". According to the Hughes listing, Radway was born in New York in 1826, and was a resident of Silver Lake, Kansas in 1880, Topeka, Kansas in 1884-85, Alameda, California in 1887, and Vineland, New Jersey in 1900. He is believed to have died in New Jersey in about 1905...

A wonderful pair of miniature portraits of two young near identical twin boys, painted on organic material. Although it might often be a decent bet that any attractive English portraits of young children done in this time period were by William Egley (joking, sort of) I cannot, in good conscience, make that attribution, so the artist will, at least for now, remain unidentified.

Possibly Scottish, and in excellent condition, each portrait has a sight size of 1 7/8" by 1 1/2"...
